INFORMATION SAVED WITH
A FORMULA
Many TechWizard™ users
are developing formulas in the "Formula Development" portion of the
program then sending that information on to the "Nutrition Info &
Labeling" section. The nutrition label and formula declaration are
developed and the information printed. However, where the user is in the
TechWizard™ when a formula is saved will determine what information is saved.
If the user is working on a formula in the "Formula Development"
section of the program then the information used to formulate and prepare a
batch sheet is saved. On the other hand, if a formula is saved from the
"Nutrition Info & Labeling" section then all the information
used to create a nutrition label is saved.
The user should keep in
mind that if a formula was saved from the "Formula Development"
section, sent to the "Nutrition Info & Labeling" section,
modified, and saved again that much of the information previously saved from
the "Formula Development" section will be lost. If you do not wish
to lose information then rename the formula before saving from the
"Nutrition Info & Labeling" section. For example, suppose you
created a formula in the "Formula Development" section called
"vanilla yogurt" and saved this formula to the formula archive.
Next the "vanilla yogurt" was transferred to the "Nutrition
Info & Labeling" section and further modified. If the formula is
saved without renaming it, the information developed for "vanilla
yogurt" in the "Formula Development" section will be lost. To
prevent this from happening, the user should rename the formula before
saving. For example, "vanilla yogurt" could be renamed
"vanilla yogurt (nutr. Label)" before saving from the
"Nutrition Info & Labeling" section.
NUTRITION INFO &
LABELING - RETRIEVING FORMULA INFORMATION
You may not be aware of
it, but formulas can be retrieved from a formula archive directly into the
"Nutrition Info & Labeling" section. Select Open from the
File menu. The Transfer window appears. Select the formula you wish to
transfer, select the Nutrition Label option, and press the Transfer
button.

SAVING THE FORMULA
DECLARATION
The formula declaration
is typically created from the individual ingredient declarations. The
ingredient declarations are strung together to make the overall formula
declaration with the order dependent on the ingredient concentration that each
declaration pertains to. It is possible to edit the formula declaration
manually. This is described in the Editing the Ingredient Declaration
portion of the Nutrition Labeling section of the TechWizard™ manual.
Typically the individual
ingredient declarations and not the overall formula declaration are saved
with a nutrition label formula. However, the user can edit the notes section
of any formula and type in the formula declaration directly. The notes are
saved when a formula is saved. The notes section can be printed separately as
well (refer to Printing Various Portions of the Nutrition Info &
Labeling Section portion of the Nutrition Labeling section of the
TechWizard™ manual). In this way, the user would never have to use the
ingredient declaration editor instead they would simply edit the formula
notes.
The formula declaration
can be transferred to the formula notes prior to saving the formula from the
"Nutrition Info & Labeling" section (be sure the read the
previous section on Information Saved with a Formula). Later, when the
formula is retrieved from the archive directly into the "Nutrition Info
& Labeling" section, the formula declaration can be transferred from
the formula notes section back into the formula declaration section. If
manually editing the formula declaration, the user should always answer No
when prompted to update the declaration information. If the declaration is stored
in the formula notes section, the user can edit the notes directly.
It is possible to copy the formula declaration information
from the Nutrition Info & Labeling" section, to the notes portion of
the Formula Development section. To do this, the user selects the formula
declaration information from the Ingredient Declaration window by
highlighting it with the mouse, copies it by pressing "Ctrl C",
goes to the formula development section, views the formula note, and presses
"Ctrl V" to paste it.
